Boston, Massachusetts, June 26, 2008 - "Get Smart -- Avoid IT Project Disasters From Turbulent Summer of '08" Theme of Standish Group's CHAOS UNIVERSITY® Boston, November 6-7, 2008

"The economic turbulence caused by out-of-control energy costs, plummeting value of the U.S. dollar, and subsequent IT problems make attendance at The Standish Group's renowned CHAOS UNIVERSITYŽ Executive Retreat important for every professional manager," said Jim Johnson, Chairman of The Standish Group International.

CHAOS UNIVERSITY Executive Retreat is scheduled for Boston, Massachusetts, Seaport Hotel World Trade Center, November 6-7, 2008.

The theme for CHAOS UNIVERSITY 2008 is "Creating a Healthy Project Management Ecosystem Through Understanding the CHAOS Commandments." A healthy environment starts with understanding and promoting the CHAOS 5 Commandments, Community, Awareness, Purpose, Pride, and Earnestness (CAPPE). The CHAOS 5 Commandments are the flip side of the 5 Deadly Sins, identified by The Standish Group in the 2005 CHAOS University as Over-Ambition, Arrogance, Ignorance, Abstinence and Fraudulence.

"The purpose of the event is to explore ways to identify the 5 CHAOS commandments, take action to enhance and promote them, and raise the project success quotient. How IT executives deal with the increasing costs of energy, demand for more 'green' initiatives, and cope with the shrinking value of U.S. dollar against the Euro and global currencies can be applied directly to everyday IT management, " Mr. Johnson said.

The 5 Deadly Sins has spawned many work groups and a book titled "The Public Execution of Miss Scarlet." It is also the subject of a new report titled "Laws of the 5 Deadly Sins" with new research on the effect of this sins have on project outcomes. "The new 7-page report defines the 5 Deadly Sins, explains their effect on projects and suggests ways to deal with them," said Jim Crear, CIO, The Standish Group.
