A healthy environment starts with understanding and promoting the CHAOS 5 Commandments, Community, Awareness, Purpose, Pride, and Earnestness (CAPPE). The CHAOS 5 Commandments are the flip side of the 5 Deadly Sins, identified by The Standish Group in the 2005 CHAOS University as Over-Ambition, Arrogance, Ignorance, Abstinence and Fraudulence.

The 5 Deadly Sins has spawned many work groups and a book titled "The Public Execution of Miss Scarlet." It is also the subject of a new report titled "Laws of the 5 Deadly Sins" with new research on the effect of this sins have on project outcomes. "The new 7-page report defines the 5 Deadly Sins, explains their effect on projects and suggests ways to deal with them," said Jim Crear, CIO, The Standish Group.
