To be held at the BOSTON HARBOR HOTEL
This year we saw success rates drop for the first time in over decade! Now more than ever we need to focus on bringing value to our IT projects. In this one-day workshop we will focus on what are the high value items that can improve project success and what items that are marginal or worse -- hurtful.

Program Overview
Feedback from past CHAOS University indicated that workshops and their presentations were the most valuable parts of each event. In addition, many executives have stated that they are squeezed for time; therefore, we have streamlined the event to one day and focused on workshops, presentations of workshop results, and roundtable discussions.
Here is a general description of these activities:
Workshop Overview: For each workshop we will break out into small groups of 4 to 5 people. A Standish moderator facilitates each workgroup. A workshop will run for 60 minutes. The groups are given problems with a set of directions and goals. For example, in the first workshop each group will generate a project health check. The goal is to determine the strength and weaknesses of the project team.
Workshop Presentations: After the workshop groups have obtained results, each group will elect a spokesperson and create a presentation with a predefined format. Each group's spokesperson will be given 5 minutes to present the results to the general assembly. Following the presentation we will hold a roundtable discussion.

This year's event focuses on sustaining a healthy project management ecosystem. So first let's define a project management ecosystem. An ecosystem is the environment in which a project lives. While it includes the methodologies and life cycles, tools, and other mechanisms, it also focuses on the other 90% of a project's environment, which are the emotional attitudes, stakeholder education, and non-process/procedures maturity of the organization. It is how projects actually function within the organization. The retreat will have three workshops that will focus on assessing projects, the environment and project managers.
